"If Dutch sign language were to be ratified that would make a big change in the lives of deaf people. That would mean we would get our prime minister or our new king interpreted."

Language is something that will allow us to access the community, but what if the community is set on only one language? Dennis Hoogeveen lives in Groningen, the Netherlands and he is deaf. He explains us how important language is in a community. Only think how you would order your food or ask for directions. If you are deaf you must rely on your mother language, Dutch Sign Language (NGT), a language which is used by only 3, maybe 5 percent of the Dutch population. Dennis advocates a different perspective: "What if I said Dutch Sign Language is a rich and visual language, a language everyone should learn?"
